Inside: A review of our day out to Paradise Wildlife Park
We are so lucky to live in an area of the country which has quite a few farms, zoos, and parks. And with 2 animal mad kids, we are always off on days out here and there.
One of our absolute favourite places to go is to Paradise Wildlife Park, which is right on our doorstep.
I am always so surprised when people say they have never been, if you live in and around Herts then you really must make the visit.
We had friends come to stay a couple of weeks ago and it was left to me to decide where to go – PWP is always a great choice so off we went to say hello to all of the animals.
After a quick pose with the gorilla, we headed straight for the white tiger. They are beautiful creatures, aren’t they? Look at those eyes!
PWP is the only wildlife park in the UK to have all 5 big cats, did you know that?
The last time we came to the park was for their birthday celebration and the opening of the new penguin enclosure. I do love them, such funny little birds!
Getting taller every single time!
Now somehow I have managed to miss the Jungle Theatre when we have been before. But what a fab little arena to watch some animals do tricks and hear about their behaviours.
The most interesting fact I learned was about Hero Rats. They have been used in Mozambique to sniff out landmines – it is now a landmine free area! They are now being used to detect tuberculosis. Just incredible!
Of course, the girls had to have their faces painted. The ladies who do it are so talented, it makes me want to learn how to do it myself!
Just as we were about to leave, the male white lion appeared from behind a rock and we were able to see him in his full glory. Isn’t he beautiful?
We were so lucky with the weather, I think it may have been the last sunny day of the season actually. We all had a great time and as usual, the girls didn’t want to go home.
I don’t imagine it will be long until we go back!
We were invited along to PWP but all words and thoughts are my own as always.
