Me & Mine: November

We took these photos ages ago now, must have been the first weekend of the month. We are loving going on weekend walks and as we had family with us on this occasion I grabbed the opportunity to have someone take the photos for us. Always a risk isn’t it but thankfully my brother in law did a fab job!

This month has been pretty hectic but at the same time I feel as though we have spent more time together than ever before. I think the reason being that we are making dedicated family time rather than just existing in each others company. Easily done though isn’t it? So often we will get to Sunday night and feel as though we haven’t seen each other, when actually we will have been together the whole time.

Me and Mine November

Besides weekend walks every Sunday, we have been to garden centres, we’ve been bowling and we had a very exciting trip to see Santa too.  It is all part of my early new year’s resolution to be more appreciative of family. I know it is the ‘it’ word at the moment but hygge really has had a dramatic effect on the way I live and view my life, truly. I feel for the first time I am taking it slow, taking everything in and loving every minute.

One of our favourite things to do now is turn off all technology and really be with each other. We do it every Saturday afternoon and I love that we are able to enjoy being together properly. We are definitely closer as a result, the closest we have ever been and I want to do everything in my power to make sure it continues into the new year and beyond. Setting good foundations early on will, I hope, mean that the children will be close as adults and family time will always be something to treasure. I think I have said before that I have visions of being a grandmother, with the children coming home for the holidays with their partners and their children. It may be a romantic notion but I truly want it to be that way, I want them to always want to come home. I think I watch far too many Christmas movies at this time of year but they just remind me how important my family are to me and I intend on having the best Christmas ever.

What are your plans for the holidays?

I picked them up last week in Primark – I wanted some last year but everywhere had sold out. Love Christmas leggings 🙂 x

  1. We have absolutely no plans for the holiday because I am working all the way through it. Well apart from the weekend of course when it’s actual Christmas. We are probably going on a Christmas walk exploring the area more. #MeandMine

  2. Oh I love this Katy, you are so right its really important to actually be together. This is something that I have been thinking about recently as we are really pulling together as a team with our house move and I want this to continue and I am excited for the new start in our new home together. Lovely phones, well done brother in law 🙂 x

  3. Oh what a beautiful spot and yay for lovely time together – it always makes life run more smoothly when you’ve just been together at peace doesn’t it

  4. Family time is so important – I’m making more of a conscious effort these days to switch off and completely focus too and it makes such a big difference. Glad you are enjoying embracing hygge and having that special family time together. I love the photos of you sitting on the log – the way the leaves frame the shot is lovely and I love the way Wills is snuggled against you – makes me really miss those snuggly baby-wearing days! Sounds like you are making the most of them x #meandmineproject

  5. I love your vision of coming back to Grandmother’s house (you) in the future. I have always hoped I am like that too and get along with my kids partner’s families so they join in with us too. It’s how I grew and it was so magical and full of love. Great family captures. Love the leggings I have them too! So festive aren’t they? #meandmineproject

  6. I’ve not heard of hygge! Off to read your other post! Family time is so important isn’t it?! We’ve been loving some quieter, family focused weekends in November x

  7. Lovely photos and I’m all over the notion of hygge. I love it and have been making a similar effort to increase this in our house and the kids are really benefiting from it. We got a Hungarian Vizsla puppy a couple of years ago and despite being a royal pain in the ass sometimes he’s also brought us closer together. We do lots of family dog walks (no matter what the weather), think of new places we can explore and he’s the hot water bottle of our sofa cuddles. Taking a slower approach to life definitely makes for better weekends together x
