A Visit To The Poppies

As you may or may not know, I live just around the corner from the lovely Sian, my Happy Days cohost. If you don’t follow her blog then go check it out, she is fab. Start off on this post and you will see that she took her boys to a gorgeous poppy field. I had seen the poppies a week before when I’d travelled into London on the train and decided then and there that I would take the girls. As soon as I saw her photos I knew I had to get down there sharpish, before they all died! It is a one-off event as apparently the field is having a rest year from growing wheat, so it was now or never!

I don’t think I have been in a field of poppies since I was about 6, but aren’t they beautiful? The girls ran off through the pathways and were in their element looking for bees and other bugs.

Honestly I could have stood for hours taking photos of them both, just something so calming about being surrounded by flowers.

Mr F is taking a real interest in photography now – which is fab for me as it means I can set him loose with a camera and he will end up taking some lovely shots. His interest is more in close up photography though, so he spent most of the morning taking photos of the individual poppies!

He did manage to take these photos of me in my new favourite dress – isn’t it cute? I have a matching top set too and both are from the Frugi Mother Collection. I have found it so difficult to find comfortable, quality maternity wear but I adore this and would wear it every day if I could. The great news is it is also breastfeeding friendly, so I will be able to wear it beyond baby boy’s birth. I am actually hoping I can wear it beyond breastfeeding too as I do love a maxi dress!

my family in the poppies

One last photo before we headed off home. It only took one take too which was a relief to everyone, haha!! I so wish this wasn’t a one off event, that we could go back year on year. Although I guess the field will need a rest in a few years, so baby boy will be able to join in too!

Have you got any poppy fields near you?

  1. I saw Sian’s post and was so jealous of the poppy field and now you have been too and I am even more jealous 🙂 Such a lovely place to let the children explore and get some gorgeous photos. I love the Frugi dress, its so hard to dress a bump in summer and you are rocking it x
